Discovering the Great Divide

Okay, so sometimes only drywall will do, but how ‘bout those other seminal moments when you have the urge to hide or separate a portion of your space? You know, when company’s coming and there’s about five loads of laundry and two bins of recycling to put away and you don’t have time to do it. Or, you need a place to hide that darned litter box when your boss stops by for a friendly chat. Or you desperately need a home office, but can’t add on or move. Or your mother-in-law’s coming for a visit and insists on her privacy. That’s what room dividers are for. Here are the perfect solutions for all of the above. They even roll up for easy storage when you’re done with them. AND, they’re made of sustainable bamboo!

So much for the hiding part.
Now, if you’re talking “divider” as in spatially reconfiguring, visually breaking up a very long room or to create distinct living and dining areas in the same large room, here are a few other suggestions.

With various room dividers, you can make square corners of a room round. Highlight a special chair. Arrange a cozy, yet still very contemporary seating area—even a cool dressing area in your room or a kids’ playroom. (Think classic Westerns, when a Miss Kitty-type changes into a new outfit by throwing her old one over a folding screen).
Room dividers, like people, come in all shapes and sizes. And when you don’t have room for other solutions, some, like this felt cut-out, even make great doors.
